So, Lately I've been crankin out quilts in all sorts of styles and colors and I couldn't be happier! I've had a creative block for about 5 or 6 years and it's been killing me that I'm insanely aware of my creative side and talents (I'm oddly confident about this aspect of myself - just so you know) and I couldn't get motivated to do anything creative. I love to sew - constructing something useful and beautiful makes me giddy. I love, love fabric and could spend hours in a fabric store. Sewing has been a love of mine since high school, where I learned to sew in a home ec. class.
I made a quilt for a friend as an adoption gift when she brought her daughter home from China about a year ago. It felt so good to select fabrics and thread and design my blocks. And then piecing and quilting that simple little thing - I felt something I hadn't felt in years....joy. Joy! Oh man, where have I been? What was going on in my life that I had lost something that meant so much to me? So glad to be back. I feel like myself again.
For inspiration, I've been browsing quilting ideas on the net and I keep running into these blogs from super-creative and vibrant women from all over the country - and I'm just floored! Blogs? What the heck is a blog and why didn't I know about this sooner? And how amazing is this stuff that's being made? And the photos and tutorials and the beautifully crafted and unique quilts that are for sale. I want a blog! But what's a blog and how do I get one? Actually, it's pretty easy.
And so I begin.
