Luxury From the Grocery Store

My local grocery always has a lovely selection of discounted floral bouquets in a bin located just past all of the massive displays of in-season blooms and gifts. I can almost always find a big, lush bundle of roses for $5. These bouquets are usually a color that's not exactly mainstream, like my favorite pink with a hint of chartruese on the edge of the petals or a dusty mauve. I usually grab just one bundle, but sometimes I grab a few. It's like a little gift I give myself. I love flowers and to bring them home amongst the milk, eggs and jumbo shrimp gives me a tickle and kinda makes me feel a bit chic and uptown.

I sometimes arrange them together in one big bundle, but usually I break them up into small arrangements and place them strategically around the house - one in the kitchen, one near my computer, one on my nightstand. If there's a bloom or two that are a little sad-looking I save them for my or my daughter's bath and turn it into a relaxing spa-like getaway by sprinkling the petals into ylang-ylang scented bubbles. Ahhhhh...

So, treat yourself! Aren't you worth it?
