I ordered Blogging for Bliss by Tara Frey from Amazon. I got it last week and I have poured through each and every delicious, delectable page everyday since. Oh Tara, I have a bit of a chick crush on you. Don't mean to creep you out, but I so want to be your friend....
Yesterday I started a dress for a friend's daughter, Emma who's 10 and just a sweetie pie. It's a replacement flower girl dress for one that went terribly wrong - it was ordered from eBay and came via postman, rolled-up in an envelope. Yes, I said rolled-up in an envelope. So my friend Julie, a world-class story teller, had me nearly in tears describing the arrival of said dress and how it fit, or didn't fit, her daughter. This poor girl gets passed over for Jr. bridesmaid status and then forced to wear this pitiful ill-fitting dress that looks like someone threw together while drinking heavily in a dark basement? Well, Julie wasn't havin' it.
So she says I'm having another made and I say Well, let me do it so you don't pay an arm and a leg and she says okay and so here I am. I haven't made a dress in a while, but I figure it's like riding a bike, right? Silly me. I thought I was gonna cry yesterday at one point. I had visions of me presenting this thing to Julie and her looking at it like "Really? Are you seriously trying to pass this off as a dress?"
So, I took a break, walked away, had a few drinks snack and came back. My head cleared, I kept truckin'. I made good progress on the bodice and just need to do a quick fitting with Emma so I can finish the bodice and attach the skirt.
I have a baby quilt that I need to sandwich and quilt - a stacked coin pattern I got off of the Moda Bake Shop site. I love this quilt! I especially love the fabric - Spring Magic by April Cornell. Love that aqua with the rose. Hopefully I get it put together and basted today. Can't decide how to quilt this - what do you think?
