"The Bruise Quilt" is Taking Shape

My daughter requested a black and blue quilt a few months ago. I have affectionately titled it "The Bruise Quilt" - something she doesn't find humorous in any way.

So, I ordered a FQ bundle of some Jennifer Paganelli Queen Street Fabrics, picked up some stuff from Fabric Shack and raided my stash for this loveliness:

Feeling good about this. I was quite frustrated about this color combo when she first announced it. But I've given her fabric choices and she's picked out a few blocks that she would like and it's really beginning to show signs of life.

I think I'll use my month in the One Block Over Bee to make this quilt for her. I think the idea of women, all over the country, stitching these blocks for her is a lovely sentiment - one that my 13 year-old, middle-school-drama-enduring, hormone-exploding, self-doubting baby needs right now.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Andie, I like your fabric choices for the bruise quilt. It's so funny, because my daughter-in-law just asked me this week if I would make TWO black and blue quilts for my grandsons next year when they move and will share a room...however, she was thinking BATMAN! Oh, dear.

And as for turning me on to the Fabric Shack.....my husband would curse you if he only knew....
