Last night was our monthly
Cincinnati Modern Quilt Guild meeting at our new home,
The Centennial Barn. Great meeting - lots of laughing, lots of oohing and ahhing at show and tells, great tips and sharing of info and
really good snacks and treats. {Who made those oatmeal chocolate chip cookies? Dang, they were really good!}
I really do love this group. We're incredibly diverse - age range from mid-twenties to mid-seventies and every taste and level of experience of quilting is represented. We even have a nun in our group!
Last night we had a block swap. The theme was
Kelly Green - whatever you want to make, but kelly green was the focus. We were to make 10 blocks - 8 for swapping, one to keep and one for a charity quilt. Here are six of the 8 blocks we got (2 participants couldn't make it - will get their blocks next month)

So much fun to see what everyone comes up with! What to do with them now....
And Janie, who told me last night she's one of my blog readers
{Hi Janie!}, brought a bunch of really great projects. We were all
stunned at the Jane Sassaman quilt she brought for a friend who is battling cancer made from this pattern:
{The site wouldn't let me copy and paste a picture, so hopefully pictures of this quilt will be on the
CMQG site soon.} She made a larger version of it and we were all kind of speechless looking at it. Great job, Janie!
And lastly - there are 5 of our members entering the Modern Quilt Guild Challenge 2! We've seen a few of the projects and I'm tellin' ya - we have some serious talent in this group. It's so inspiring to see my girls embrace a challenge, interpret it and execute their vision - love, love, love it.
Today - must find someone to longarm a queen-sized quilt. Everyone and their mother is booked for the next 3 months! Quilting is the next scrapbooking, people. Mark my words...
If you dont mind shipping to CA, email me and I will get you the name and number of a nice lady out here that has a longarm that can accomodate a queen.
ReplyDeleteAnd AWESOME blocks!!! =) I wish we had a MQG...
Hello, there! This is Sarah from Guild last night. I'm with you that Janie's quilt was amazing! I loved your block from the swap, too. Just wanted to let you know you have another new reader. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah! Just linked your blog in this post. I LOVE your challenge quilt - I'm not a purplr person, but I really love how you used it in that quilt. And the quiled circles - love.

ReplyDeleteI'm bummed I had to miss the meeting but the blocks look great! Remember that my mom is a long arm quilter....
ReplyDeleteAndie, I belong to the CMQG - only it's the Chicago Modern Quilt Guild. And I too love these women. Aren't we lucky!
