Mini Quilt Swap and a New Computer

Hubby built me a new computer! Wasn't that so nice of him? Only....
There's not much software on it right now and I can't yet load my pictures from my big daddy camera. I took loads at the IQF quilt show and I've been snapping pics of some of my current projects, but, alas - I can't post them until I {he} straighten{s} this whole issue out. So in the meanwhile, you all have to put up with my sub-par Blackberry photos. Thanks ever so much for understanding my lack of computer prowess and fabulocity.

So Victoria of Bumble Beans invited me to participate in the Use What You Have Mini Quilt Swap. I was so excited to make something mini - I loved making the doll quilts for our CMQG swap last summer. Quilts are to measure 12" x 12" and had to be made from what you have on hand, preferably scraps. I'm making a little house for my partner - it's turning out really cute! But I free-motion-quilted the sky background and, I have to say, it looks pretty pathetic. Not sure I want to be sending this to someone - especially after seeing what Carla made and received in a recent mini quilt swap {Uh.May.Zing}

I may start over and try something a little...oh...less amateur looking.

  4. Andie, here's a little quilt smack for you - ***smack*** Your free motioning is just fine. It's a process and it's not about perfection. I bet if we free-motioned for a solid year, we still would be saying things like, "Oh, but this part is wonky" or "this tension isn't the best." I'm saying we because I'm so guilty of the same thing. It's a process, we practice, and we get better. The end!

  5. I have the same problem! I love my piecing (love the scraps sewing!!!) but then I quilted it and I want to rip it all out! (of course, that would take longer than starting over...sigh.) My friend said to send it anyway. It doesn't have to be perfect. No quilt police!

  7. The roof is so cute - I love the scallops! I'm sure the free motion sky isn't so bad even if we don't get to see it. What else might you do if you don't send her this quilt?
